Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Ludhiana discussed challenges associated with entering international markets at the Ludhiana edition of ShiprocketX Yatra, an initiative organised by Shiprocket to familiarise local businesses with cross-border trade.
The event brought together local manufacturers, direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and entrepreneurs to discuss export procedures, documentation and regulatory compliance, international shipping, market access and the role of technology in simplifying cross-border operations, according to the company.
Ludhiana has a strong presence in textiles, apparel, bicycles, auto components, engineering goods and agricultural products. Shiprocket said the city had around 38,000 Udyog Aadhaar-registered MSMEs. For businesses seeking overseas customers, understanding export regulations, logistics and destination-market requirements remains important.
Akshay Ghulati, CEO, International Shipping, Shiprocket, said Ludhiana businesses had strong product capabilities and an established entrepreneurial base, but needed to understand compliance requirements and logistics to explore overseas markets.
ShiprocketX Yatra aims to take export-related information to businesses beyond major metropolitan centres through on-ground engagements. The Ludhiana edition focused on the practical requirements of cross-border commerce and opportunities in international markets.
