Chandigarh’s Little Green Cafe

Located in the heart of Sector 19, Chandigarh, is a green cafe, offering a slice of peace for you, topped with dollops of fun, frolic, and some free pottery activities to try your hands on.

Sometimes all we need is a good meal, a beautiful place, and the right people around us to make the world feel a little lighter, even if for a few moments or hours. A cafe is not just about food and beverages; it’s about conversations that stretch for hours, laughter that comes without effort, and memories that stay with us long after the day ends. My recent Sunday visit to this beautiful cafe with my friends was exactly that and much more; it was a refreshing escape from the stress and chaos of everyday life.

Located in Sector 19, Chandigarh, near the Le Corbusier Centre, this open-air vegetarian café offers a refreshing blend of Italian and fast-food fusion cuisine. A meal for two here costs approximately Rs 2,000. However, what truly sets the place apart is the experience it offers. As we entered the cafe through a long, narrow pathway, we were greeted by an unexpected sight: parrots roaming freely, rabbits enjoying their day out, and adorable little puppies having some bindaas fun. It instantly felt like stepping into a small, peaceful world of its own.

It was a cool, drizzly afternoon that day when my friends and I decided to visit the cafe, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Since the cafe is entirely open-air, the pleasant weather was definitely the icing on the cake. Surrounded by greenery, aesthetic seating space, and even a small waterfall, the place had a calm, refreshing charm of its own. One detail I found particularly interesting was the small bell placed on every table to call in the waiter. The service was quick, and the staff made the entire experience smooth and comfortable.
Also visiting the cafe on the same day was Neha, an anchor at DD Doordarshan in Chandigarh, who said, “I am particularly impressed by the peaceful ambience of the cafe and the way nature effortlessly blends with the cafe’s aesthetics here. It doesn’t feel like you’re sitting in the middle of a busy city.” As she sat watching the parrots and the puppies wandering around.

While Arpit, a social media executive at Tech Striker in Mohali , also present there on that day seemed equally impressed by the cafe’s visually appealing setting and its unique little details, talking about her favourite details about the cafe, she said, “I enjoy the open-air seating of the cafe and the pottery making activities offered here to keep the visitors busy, the place offers plenty of captivating moments worth capturing and sharing with ones loved ones.”

One highlight of my visit to the cafe was the weekend pottery session. For the first time, I tried making a pot using damp clay and water. The instructors patiently explained the technique, making the activity enjoyable even for beginners. You can also take your creation home for an additional charge, turning it into a lovely souvenir of the day.

Of course, no cafe visit is complete without good food. We ordered hot and crispy Panuozzos, gourmet pizzas, creamy pink sauce pasta and some cheesy fries. The portions were generous, and every dish was satisfying. Between enjoying our food, playing with the puppies, clicking countless photographs, and simply spending time together, the hours flew by.

By the end of the day, I realized that some places offer much more than what is written on the menu. This cafe gave us food, fun, creativity, and, most importantly, quality time spent with people we enjoy being around. If you are looking for a charming spot to visit with friends or your partner, this place is certainly worth adding to your list. Just pick a cool day, gather your favourite people, and let the good times roll!
