The Kangra Police Department warned paragliding operators against flights during adverse weather, with Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma announcing strict action against violations to protect tourists and prevent accidents.
Verma said police had already met with operators, and another meeting was scheduled for this week to review safety measures. Reports of paragliding during unfavourable weather had emerged a few days earlier, prompting the police to monitor the situation.
He said police sent a team to the spot after pilots were spotted flying in the evening. The flights were stopped, and the concerned operators were issued an advisory along with strict directions to comply with safety rules.
Verma added that the District Tourism Officer had registered paragliding pilots. The police were coordinating with the Tourism Department and operators to ensure adherence to prescribed safety measures.
He warned that operators who violated regulations or put tourists’ safety at risk would face immediate action. The administration aimed to prevent accidents by halting paragliding activities during unsuitable weather conditions.
