New Delhi, October 10
Delhi Police have detained three prominent leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), including founder Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, amid heightened security in the national capital on Saturday.
Videos shared by the CJP show police personnel entering an aircraft carrying Dipke to Delhi. In the footage shared on the social media platforms, Dipke is heard telling the officers, “I have come here to be arrested, arrest me.” A police officer responds, “No, this is not an arrest. Please cooperate.”
Earlier on Saturday, the CJP announced on social media that its ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ campaign had begun, declaring an end to what it called Gyanesh Kumar’s role in facilitating ‘vote chori’.
Speaking to a news agency before reaching Delhi, Dipke questioned the security measures imposed in the capital, alleging that railway services and metro operations had been halted, internet access restricted and roads blocked.
He also claimed that Army personnel had been brought from Jammu and Kashmir and deployed in Delhi, while Central Reserve Police Force personnel had been moved from areas affected by Naxalite violence.
“Does the Central government want to wage war against the people of its own country?” Dipke asked, questioning why such a large security deployment was necessary over the issue involving Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
