Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to veteran actor Nana Patekar, describing him as an artist known for his intensity, individuality and versatility. In a social media post on Thursday, Modi said Patekar had brought “remarkable versatility and creativity” to his roles and created characters that would be remembered for generations.
He also praised the actor for his frank and forthright views, saying he never hesitated to express his opinions. Patekar made a significant contribution to both Hindi and Marathi cinema, Modi said, adding that his death had left a deep void in the film industry.
“His passing leaves a deep void. My condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers. Om Shanti,” the prime minister said. Patekar, known for films including Nayak, Krantiveer and Ab Tak Chhappan, was widely recognised for his distinctive acting style and powerful screen presence.
