The Adarsh Ramleela Dramatic Club, Sector 5, Panchkula, has completed preparations for the 46th edition of its annual Ramleela, which will be staged from October 9 to 20 at Shalimar Ground, Sector 5. The event will conclude on Dussehra with the burning of a 221-foot-tall Ravan effigy.

The club announced details of the programme during a press conference held at Kov Hotel in Sector 5, Panchkula. Organisers said this year’s presentation would incorporate modern technology, elaborate sets, advanced lighting effects and newly designed scenes aimed at enhancing the audience experience.

Club president Ramesh Chadha said the organisation has sought to present the ideals and values associated with Lord Ram to younger generations through a blend of tradition and modern presentation techniques. He stated that new visual elements and stage designs have been introduced for this year’s performances.

Senior vice-president Pradeep Kansal said the organisation would also undertake social initiatives alongside the Ramleela. As part of these efforts, the club will organise the collective marriage of five girls from economically weaker families on October 12. He said supporting needy families remains among the institution’s priorities.

Ramleela director Pawan Sharma said a three-stage format would be used this year to minimise interruptions between scenes and ensure a continuous presentation. He added that special lighting arrangements, grand sets and modern visual effects have been incorporated to create an immersive experience for spectators.

General secretary Amit Goyal said the 221-foot Ravan effigy burning on October 20 would be a major attraction of the Dussehra celebrations at Shalimar Ground. He appealed to residents of the Tricity region to attend the event with their families.

The club has also launched a digital outreach campaign to engage children and young people. Publicity secretary Ravish Gautam said artificial intelligence tools and social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram, were used to promote the event among younger audiences.

According to the organisers, the digital campaign has received a positive response, encouraging more children and youth to participate in Ramleela activities. Several new artists have also joined the organisation this year.

Organisers said the initiative reflects an effort to preserve cultural traditions while using contemporary technology to connect with a new generation of audiences.
