Prime Minister Narendra Modi renewed his pledge to make India a developed nation by 2047, saying the country has the strength, confidence and determination to achieve its ambitious goals at the ‘Seva Jyoti’ event in Delhi on Wednesday. “Viksit Bharat by 2047, we will do it,” Modi said, adding that 1.4 billion Indians would together build a developed India. The prime minister further said India would become a global manufacturing hub, host the Olympics and expand its presence in space.
The prime minister was speaking on the day he completed 25 years as head of a government, having first taken oath as Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2001. He said he had not imagined 25 years ago that he would reach such a milestone.
Modi said several achievements once considered impossible had become a reality, citing the government’s claim that 250 million people had moved out of poverty over the past decade. “That is why I believe in the strength and potential of 140 crore Indians,” he said.
“After 25 years of experience, I can say with confidence, we are witnessing India’s transformation right before our eyes,” he said. The prime minister further said that India should not stop its progress and expressed confidence that the vision of a developed India would become a reality.
Referring to the aviation sector, Modi said the world was now talking about Indian pilots and that a day would come when it would talk about aircraft made in India.“These goals will be achieved through visionary policies and relentless hard work,” he said.
Modi called for setting ambitious targets, including making India one of the world’s top three economies and creating an India free from poverty.
He said India should aim to lead in education, entertainment, health, sports, innovation and technology.
“India may have challenges, but we also have 140 crore solutions,” he said.
Modi also invoked the visions of Swami Vivekananda and Maharishi Aurobindo, saying India’s rise could inspire the world.
