Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday inaugurated the state’s first tourist police post at Shri Mata Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula to provide security and assistance to pilgrims visiting the shrine.
The facility is staffed by 20 police personnel and supported by a surveillance network of more than 100 CCTV cameras for live monitoring of the temple premises.
The dedicated post aims to provide pilgrims, including those arriving from other states, a single point of contact for guidance, police assistance and complaint registration. It will also facilitate services related to the registration of FIRs, according to officials.
During the inauguration, Saini was briefed by police officers on the facility’s functioning and security arrangements. He stressed the need for prompt assistance to devotees and said understanding their languages, needs and circumstances was essential to making their visits safe and convenient.
Director General of Police Ajay Singhal and Panchkula Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain were present on the occasion.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening security at religious sites and improving facilities for pilgrims visiting the prominent shrine, which attracts devotees from across the country.
